Age Is Just A Number

I love all kinds of stories. I also love all kinds of writers. And right now I’m obsessing over three talented women who published their debut novels a little later in their careers:

Dennys S. Bryce the author of Wild Women and the Blues

Angie Kim the author of Miracle Creek

Delia Owens the author of Where the Crawdads Sing

All three have extensive resumes and enjoyed great successes prior to publishing their first novels. As a woman over, ahem, forty…okay, over fifty, I’m thrilled to see other older women succeeding as writers and creative artists. Of course it’s great to pursue our creative goals at any age, but it feels especially important that we keep striving toward our goals, and to never give up.

For me, these women symbolize something my grandmother used to tell me: Age is just a number. We are not limited by our age. We are only limited by our own self-doubt. We can do anything, if we work hard enough, and remain focused on our goals.
